Features of an ink cartridge
Cartridge description (according to RAE): 4. exchangeable device provided with the need to operate certain machines and instruments.
An ink cartridge or inkjet is one of the most important components of a printer. They are usually small and is contained in the ink.
There are thousands of different models of printer cartridges as printer models. Each printer has a specific model of cartridge and are not interchangeable, so that, when buying your printer cartridges, you have to make sure which model to use.
Printers have up even from a cartridge 12 (as in the case of the Canon Pro 1). The most common is to find printers 2 cartridges: one black and one tricolor (cyan, magenta and yellow) or these 4 separate colors.
The cartridges are usually of two types. There are cartridges bearing the head and are usually integrated printers that use two cartridges (one black and one tricolor). As we see in the picture below, these cartridges are thicker. The problem that exists is that they are more expensive and more complicated to recycle also because they carry very different components.
Other cartridges, however, are only the ink container so that the head comes within the printer. That's usual on Brother printers, as we see below:
These cartridges are much easier to recycle, since they have integrated head, and the price per cartridge is cheaper because its manufacturing cost is too.
Some manufacturers make a chip that allows the printer to read the amount of ink that contains each of the cartridges.
The most important thing to keep in mind when buying the cartridge is the model and brand of printer, as each takes a certain type of cartridge.
